FAQs

Q. What should my family wear for our portrait?

A. We can help you select clothing that will enhance your portrait. Some things to remember are:
Stripes, plaids and repeating prints are visually confusing and do not photograph well.
Solid colors tend to photograph the best.
Bright colors can be dominate a portrait and make that person stand out more than everyone else.
Choose clothing in the same color theme (warm, cool, fall, spring etc…) for all family members to create color harmony within your portraits.
Be sure that all family members are dressed for the same season (all in long or short sleeves… do not mix).
Shoes are a fun way to dress up or down any outfit. We recommend avoiding beach sandals, flip-flops and tennis shoes.

Ross will have other helpful hints about what clothing will work best based on location, time of year and other factors. We will plan a consultation (in person or over the phone) for Ross to confirm clothing ideas for your session.

Q. What if rain is forecast for the day of our session?
A. Ross keeps a very close eye on the weather. Typically, he will not make a reschedule decision until 24 hours before the session. Forecasts any further out are just too inaccurate.
